Active protection against wrap-ups

Web breaks at production speed are a well known risk in web offset printing and can never be excluded. In heatset web offset printing, this problem arises mainly in the dryer. In case of a web break the web is pulled back into the last printing unit and is wrapped around the cylinders. Long lasting production stop-pages and even severe damages to blanket and plate cylinders and other mechanical parts in the printing unit are the possible consequences of such wrap-ups.
