The Product
Purposive, controlled re-moisturising
BALDWIN offer with the SoftWeb Remoisturising System a particularly cost-effective solution that will help you get control of these problems. The SoftWeb supplies a controlled amount of conditioned water and/or water of a hardness degree (4°dH) to the web. Thus the paper recovers a relatively large portion of the moisture evaporated in the heatset dryer. The SoftWeb operates with a non-contacting principle. Spray chambers of compact design arranged in the immediate vicinity of the upper and the lower side of the paper web generate an atomized spray by means of special spray nozzles. The moisture is evenly distributed in the entire active range of the spray chambers and applied to both sides of the paper web. The number of spray nozzles depends on the web width.
Straightforward design, effective result
Thanks to its compact design and its principle of function, the re-moisturising system is easily fitted, requiring as little space as 500 mm for installation.
One of the chambers of the SoftWeb can be pneumatically removed from its operating position at the touch of a button. The remoisturising system may be opened automatically when required, so that the press operators’ working space is not impaired – e.g. during webbing up.
The SoftWeb does not require mechanical accessories such as pressure or application rollers.
Outstanding advantages of application result from the location of the SoftWeb within the press line: Due to the short distance to the heatset dryer, the paper web is still relatively hot. Thus the printed paper will absorb the moisture very rapidly and intensively on the comparatively short moisturising line of the SoftWeb. Remoisturising breaks up the laminar flow of air along the surface of the paper web. This results in an improved heat transmission at the chills rolls and counteracts the buildup deposits on the chill rolls.
Purposive, controlled re-moisturising
The quantity of the moisturising agent supplied to the spray chambers is pre-selected via a display with a membrane keyboard. The SoftWeb re-adjusted the quantity of moisturising agent proportional to the press speed. The active web width may also be preset at the display. In the case of half or three quarter web operation, the edge areas can be switched off.
